We Reached Our Goal!

Successful “Neighbor-sourcing” the Cost of Bronze Plaques Celebrating The Mill’s Historical Significance

The Board is proud and delighted to announce that we achieved our fundraising goal for this project in less than one week! Many thanks to those steadfast Owners who answered the call [or the email or text or the parking lot conversation], inviting their support. Their donations spurred us on to realize almost 100% Owner participation. What we do together will make a difference. Yay us!

The plaques have been ordered and should be building-mounted in 5 – 8 weeks.

Help “Neighbor-source” the Cost of Bronze Plaques Celebrating The Mill’s Historical Significance

PLEASE JOIN OWNERS WHO HAVE ALREADY DONATED

The National Park Service approved listing the Indera Mills complex on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, recognizing its role in the broad textile industry development that occurred in Winston-Salem in the early years of the twentieth century. To acknowledge and herald this honor, the Board has unanimously approved mounting handsome bronze plaques on Building 1, Building 2, Building 3, and Unit 155.

THIS IS NOT A COA-FUNDED PROJECT.

Rather, we are asking those of us who live and work in this unique community to share the cost.

TOTAL COST $1,215

October 12 B3 Construction Noise

There will be construction noise starting tomorrow.

On the morning of Wednesday, October 12th, renovation work begins on the Toccis’ Kitchen (Unit 323). The worst of the noise is expected during the first day of demolition.

Apologies in advance!

Bucky Dennis

It is with heavy hearts that the Board makes known that longtime resident Bucky Dennis passed away last night. He and his wife Nancy are among the very first owners at The Mill. For many years together they added so much enthusiasm, warmth, and steadfast loyalty to our neighborhood. Bucky will be greatly missed.

Kevin Mathews

The Mill at Tar Branch COA Board is sad to share that Kevin Matthews passed away on June 28 following a short illness. Kevin and his wife Kathy co-own Matthews Services, a company that has long provided high-quality cleaning for our community buildings. Please don’t hesitate to express your condolences if you see Kathy on the property.

Read more about Kevin in his obituary.

B2 Keypad Update

Thank you for your patience as we work on fixing the keypad on the East side of your building. Wes Waters has been working toward a solution and troubleshooting the issue with help from Patrick Turner.

They have engaged the company that installed Building 3’s keypad; however, the gentleman who will help has a family emergency, so he will not be able to come out until next week. (His father is in the hospital.)

If the issue were as easy as replacing the keypad, we would have taken care of it by now; unfortunately, something internal is going on that requires professional help.

We will keep you posted as the issue unfolds.

Thanks,

The COA Board
